Orton Gillingham is a research-based methodology that is the only proven system to be successful for improving reading, writing, and spelling skills in people with dyslexia.
- One-on-one tutoring.Tutoring sessions are scheduled at least 2 times a week lasting 1 hour. More tutoring sessions result in faster student progress.
- Katie is a certified tutor using the Barton Reading and Spelling System.This program is ian adaptation of the traditional O-G method. The Barton System is simultaneously multi-sensory, structured, explicit, and systematic.
- Comprehension, fluency and vocabulary skills are also woven into each session.
- Success is defined as reading and spelling at the mid-ninth grade level
- An "average" dyslexic student will show noticeable improvement after 24 sessions. This improvement will continue steadily throughout the tutoring
